CATS...

The largest cat problem is that there are just too many of them and this is down to people not neutering their cats. There is no excuse for not having your cat neutered.

People often make contact with us because they have some strays living under a bush in their garden or in their greenhouse and they want a solution to this problem.

Please do not take the advice of any animal welfare organisation who advise you to just stop feeding them and they will go away! This irresponsible 'solution' merely moves the cat problem to someone else and in reality the cats will either starve to death or continue to move where the food is.

The real problem arises when the cats are around four months old and start to breed, breed and breed. One female cat can be responsible for 20,000 descendants in just a five year period!

Strays need trapping and neutering and hopefully given a new home. But this situation cannot continue as all rescues are becoming increasingly overcrowded as the number of cats available by far outstrips the demand for them.

Please make contact with Cats Protection as they are best placed to deal with this kind of scenario.

The largest cat charity in the country is Cats Protection and they have centres all over the country. However, each centre does vary dramatically in the service they provide. The West Yorkshire area is extremely fortunate to have the very best and hard working centre:-
