Many horses are cruely treated, abandoned, neglected, and left in appauling states. The Phyllis Harvey Horse and Donkey Trust - more commonly known as Hope Pastures - take on these horses, ponies, donkeys and mules and work wonders with them.
Meet Zak - this is the terrible state he was in when first taken to Hope Pastures...

Just look at him only three months later...

Fostering from Hope Pastures...
Could you be that special person or family to foster one of these wonderful horses who deserve a second chance at happiness?
Horses such as George, who has a mischievious character and loves attention, is now well enough to be placed with fosterers - he will remain in the ownership of Hope Pastures. George and his friends,Toddy, Rosie and Pepper, cannot be ridden they just need love, attention and caring for. These four horses/ponies need to be fostered...
So, if you have a paddock and a field shelter please consider fostering one or more of these adorable animals. Hope Pastures need to find good, loving foster homes to release the space needed to allow new horses and ponies that have been abandoned, neglected and treated in a cruel manner to be cared for at the sanctuary.
If you are experiencing a problem with a horse please contact Hop Pastures and they will probably be able to offer help and advice.
Hope Pastures are based on Weetwood Lane, Leeds, LS16 5PH. You can visit their website www.hopepastures.org or telephone them on 0113 2614 344.
Please go and visit these horses as they are absolutely wonderful and all have a story to tell.
