Hedgehogs like untidy - the more untidy the better! So to attract a hedgehog into your garden you must leave a substantial part of your garden wild and leave it like that -  never disturb this area.

Native grasses, nettles, shrubs and flowers are all a welcome addition as are fallen leaves, twigs and logs - just let it go! Make it interesting as well as overgrown.

Putting  out food - cat/dog food but not fish varieties - and fresh water in a shallow dish every night will encourage the little hedgies. And, if you want to ensure that it's only the hedhehogs eating your feast and not the neighbours greedy cat, simply place a plastic container over the food like this...

As you can see a small cat bed is ideal!

Make your garden a safe haven for the hedgehog by avoiding the hazards explained in our previous webpage 'hedgehogs' and ensure your garden is totally organic.

It won't be long before you attract a wonderful hedgehog - and don't forget that tjhey are the ultimate gardener's best friend. Why? Because they eat slugs!
